This center provides sheltering for domestic stray and unhoused animals from Chapel Hill, Carrboro and Hillsborough municipalities, as well as the unincorporated areas of Orange County. CLICK HERE FOR OUR OPERATING HOURS.

  • REQUEST PET RECORDS: Are you a pet owner, veterinary clinic, animal shelter, or animal rescue requesting pet records? Please call 919-942-7387, press option 2 or 3. Please leave a message with your request if staff is not able to answer right away.
  • NON-URGENT ANIMAL CONTROL INQUIRES: For non-urgent Animal Control inquiries or concerns, you may email acteam@orangecountync.gov (this email is not monitored on weekends or holidays). If you have a time-sensitive or urgent animal-related situation that needs attention, please call 919-942-7387, press option 1, Monday - Friday 8 am - 5 p.m. Dial 9-1-1 for emergencies outside of regular hours. 
  • WILDLIFE: Animal Services is merely a resource for information and/or referral when it comes to most wildlife. Only potential rabies cases and cases where there is an urgent matter of public safety should be handled directly through Animal Services. For concerns or questions about wildlife that do not involve exposure to rabies, please contact the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission.
  • ANIMAL INTAKE SERVICES are available by appointment. You may also call 919-942-7387, option 2, for more information.
  • EVENT INQUIRIES: If you are hosting an event and would like to inquire about Animal Services attending.
  • NON-URGENT MANAGEMENT INQUIRIES: You may email management at ocas@orangecountync.gov with non-urgent questions or concerns. This email is not monitored on weekends or holidays.
