Bringing Immunity to the Community: Measles Updates for Partners and Providers

Hillsborough, NC (February 4, 2025) – The Orange County Health Department and UNC SPARC (Special Pathogens Response Center) invite healthcare providers and community partners to Bringing Immunity to the Community: Measles Updates for Partners and Providers. This free event will focus on strengthening the community’s readiness and response to measles outbreaks through education, collaboration, and hands-on exercises. The deadline to register for the in-person event is February 14, 2025. Presentations will also be streamed on Facebook Live on the day of the event.

  • 8:00 – 8:30 a.m. – Hospitality
  • 8:30 – 9:30 a.m. – Setting the Stage
    Dr. Erica Pettigrew, MD, JD, MPH, will provide an overview of the current measles landscape and its community health implications. Dr. Pettigrew serves as Medical Director of the Orange County Health Department, Occupational Health Director at UNC Hospitals, and Associate Professor at the University of North Carolina.
  • 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. – Best-Practice Responses
    A panel of experts will share strategies and approaches for managing measles cases and improving outbreak responses.
  • 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. – Tabletop Exercise
    Attendees will participate in a hands-on practice session simulating real-world measles response scenarios.
  • 11:30 a.m. – Noon – Wrap-Up
    Key takeaways will be shared by the Orange County Health Department EPITeam, led by Victoria Hudson, MPA, REHS, and Alexandria Rimmer, MPH, REHS.
