— The Orange County Opioid Advisory Committee invites community members to attend the Second Annual Opioid Settlement Funds Community Meeting on Saturday, August 16, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Freedom House Recovery Center, located at 140 New Stateside Drive, Chapel Hill. This free event is open to the public, but registration is required.
The meeting offers an opportunity for Orange County residents to learn how opioid settlement funds are being used to support local recovery, prevention, and harm reduction efforts.
“Before lunch, we’ll hear directly from grant recipients who have used settlement funds to expand treatment and support services in Orange County,” said Tonya Stancil, Harm Reduction Coordinator with the Orange County Health Department. “Their experiences will help shape and strengthen how we move forward in our collective response to the opioid crisis.” Some of the 2025–2026 Opioid Settlement Grant recipients include:
- El Futuro
- Freedom House Recovery Center
- UNC Student Health Action Coalition (SHAC)
- Piedmont Health Services
- Reintegration Support Network
The meeting agenda will include information about the origin of the North Carolina Opioid Settlement Funds, Orange County Opioid Data and Trends, and details on how the Settlement Funds are used in compliance with the NC Opioid Settlement Agreement.
